In the wake of heavy rains and floods disrupting life across Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh, telecom giants Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have announced a set of relief measures to ensure uninterrupted connectivity for their customers.
Jio’s Relief Measures
Reliance Jio has extended three-day validity to prepaid subscribers whose plans were set to expire this week. Users will also get unlimited voice calls and 2 GB of high-speed data per day at no additional cost.
For JioHome and postpaid customers, the company has offered a three-day grace period to make bill payments, ensuring that services remain active despite disruptions. Jio has also deployed engineering teams on the ground to restore damaged network infrastructure and maintain service continuity.
Airtel’s Relief Measures
Bharti Airtel too has stepped in with similar support. Prepaid customers whose plans are expiring have been given a three-day extension, which includes unlimited calls and 1 GB data per day without extra charge.
For postpaid and broadband users, Airtel has provided a three-day bill payment grace period. Additionally, Airtel has activated Intra-Circle Roaming (ICR) across Jammu, Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh. This enables subscribers to connect to any available network in the region, ensuring connectivity even if their operator’s network is temporarily down.
Government Support
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has authorized the activation of ICR in Jammu & Kashmir until September 2, 2025, allowing customers of all operators to stay connected during the crisis.
